After Graduating from Dentistry at McGill University in 1978, I relocated to Calgary as part of the exodus from Quebec.  I have been in private practice since 1979 in Calgary and just recently became semi-retired.  Aside from private practice, I have been the Team Dentist for several professional sports teams and am presently in that position with the Calgary Roughnecks Lacrosse Team.
I have been married over 43 years to my wife Stephanie.  We have 2 wonderful daughters Marla, living in Calgary and Lindsay, living in Los Angeles and she has blessed us with 2 grandchildren Evan and Felicity.
Our spare time is spent making trips to California to see the kids and frequent trips in the winter to our winter home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
I look forward to renewing aquaintances with my old MRHS classmates.

Hello to the Class of '68!  Many thanks to the organizers for setting up this website and for organizing the reunion.  I have enjoyed reading the profiles I have seen thus far and look forward to seeing more.
After graduation from TMR High, I did my BA in Honours English, an MA in English and then a Bachelor of Fine Arts...all at Concordia.  Needless to say it was a slow meandering route with a full time career in teaching (English), marrying Julian, raising two wonderful daughters (Andrea, 30, and Amelia, 32) and all the frantic and fun times that family life brings.
I retired from teaching after 37 years at Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's in 2012, and am now a practicing artist working mostly in oils. Right now i am painting street scenes and industrial landscapes around Montreal. You can see some of my work on Instagram! (Janet Sargisson)
Julian is still working, though a little less now; we have lived in Montreal all this time and still love it here. This past October we were overjoyed to become grandparents for the first time and are loving every minute of it!  Looking forward to seeing many of you at the reunion.

My memories of high school are very sketchy. Wish I could remember more. Following MRHS I attended Sir George as an English major and have been a big reader ever since. Never was athletic. Married to the love of my life, Barry Dolman for 45 years and we have been blessed with 4 children and 5 grandchildren so far. We lived in TMR until 2005 when we moved to Old Montreal.
I opened a retail store there in 2005 and am presently hoping to retire to relax and travel some more.
Congratulations to the organizers working on the reunion, what a big project. The website is terrific! Well done!

February 04, 1951 Town of Mount Royal QC CA Event staff Single 2018-01-26 15:55:56
Well what to say about the last twenty-five years—that is a tall order.  After working in the retail industry I started to work in event-staffing on a part-time basis.  I work for several companies at the convention centers, hotels and cruise terminals.  Not ready for retirement yet.  I keep busy with my work, my family, my home, my garden, my volunteer work and my friends.  There are not enough hours in a day.  Traveling is still a passion.  My ambition was to see the world and I have done pretty well on that score!  I am delighted to be working with my classmate from Russell School Sue Stapells on this reunion weekend.  I still call the Town my home and I look forward to welcoming you all back to your Town.

Hello all.

Congratulations and a big thank you to the organizers of the events to come. Looking forward to connecting with classmates and hopefully to spending some time together at the reunion. It has been too long for us to be out of touch. We kearned so much together and now have so much to learn from each other. My life partner Barbara and I are very excited to meet everyone again, to catch up after 50 years and to experience together the passage of a half century. We have three children (Laura, Jeremiah and Adam), a son-in-law (Jake) and a very new daughter-in-law (Taina), a one year old grandson (Cole) and a Clyde/TB gelding (Denver).  There has been much more joy than sorrow in our lives, lots of people and places to remember and revisit, and many life and work challenges to recall and more still to confront. These days we spend time at our base in Toronto, at our home in Bonavista Bay and skiing in the Columbia Kootenay Rockies. We are thrilled to meet the coming unknown new phases in our now very happy lives... as the movement of time edges inexorably forward. Safe travels all. Enjoy the summer months too!

Dear classmates
Apart from a small number who are in the know (mainly fellow graduates of Miss Jones's Carlyle School 'enrichment class', plus Albert Rosengarten), anyone who's read the earlier version of this profile may be surprised to discover that I've decided to attend the reunion after all - despite the fact that I live in England (where I've been since 1986), and have already travelled to Montreal or the northeastern US on three occasions since the spring.  At Easter I visited to see my parents (still both living, both back in Montreal after long periods residing elsewhere, and in remarkably good shape for two nonagenarians); at the end of July I returned with my wife, son, daughters, and their partners to celebrate my father's 95th birthday; and then, after flying back to the UK, in mid-August there was yet another flight back to Massachusetts, this time for the special occasion of my daughter's wedding. No wonder, then, that when I received the invite to the MRHS reunion, my initial response was to decline, on the grounds that I'd done more than enough travelling in the past year (including trips to New Zealand, Indonesia, Turkey and Mexico), been away from home for much too long already, and in the process had far outspent my annual holiday budget. Plus I hate to think of my carbon footprint for the past twelve months.
But several things prompted me to rethink my original decision.  In the early summer I had the pleasure of meeting Steven Vineberg in London, followed a few weeks later by an encounter with Jack Glay and his wife Lynne - and from seeing Steve and Jack I realised that strong bonds of friendship still existed between us, which I found (indeed still find) rather amazing.  Then over the summer I heard that two other 'Miss Jonesians', David Stuart and Jun Okumura, were battling with cancer, but that both remained implacably determined to attend the reunion nonetheless - and that just pushed me over the edge.  Carpe Diem, the ancient Roman motto commands, and so I've decided to seize the day.
The rest of this profile I'll leave pretty much unchanged.  I've made my career as an art historian, specialising in British art of the mid-17th- through the mid-19th century.  For thirty years up until my retirement in 2016, I taught at The Courtauld Institute of Art, a specialist institution attached to the University of London; I was also The Courtauld's Dean and Deputy Director from 2009-16.  When I say that I've 'retired', that means that I've stopped doing teaching and administration, but have continued to be active as a researcher, writer, and curator.  Having produced several books, and been elected a Fellow of the British Academy, I've now switched my attention to organising exhibitions; one of these, entitled Gainsborough's Family Album, will open at the National Portrait Gallery in London in November and then at Princeton the following February, so please do come and see it!
On the personal side, between the time of our 25th and 50th MRHS reunions, my first wife Sally Kolker passed away (in 1999), and I've since happily remarried Gilly (pronounced Jilly) Archer.  Our kids (Ben Solkin, now aged 34; Mia Solkin, 32, who married David Ban this summer; and Grace Armitage, 26) are no longer kids - except of course in some respects - though they have yet to produce any progeny of their own.
Everyone is healthy - knock wood! - and life is good. I look forward to seeing you all at the reunion!

January 04, 1951 (905) 541-2810 2902-150 Charlton Avenue East Hamilton ON CA L8N 3X3 retired Speech-Language Pathologist Committed Relationship 1 2018-03-06 08:46:37
So, 50 years, eh?

The highlights of my life:

...My beautiful daughter Joanna who lives just outside of London (the U.K. one) with her British husband and their brand new daughter (my first grandchild!). Oh boy oh boy oh boy!! I am such an excited Mum and Grandmum.

...My terrific career in Speech-Language Pathology: the better part of 26 years was at The Mackay Center as a clinician and Manager; I also held a part-time Faculty Lecturer position in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at McGill and had the good fortune to pariticpate in policy-making for my field at the provincial level. After we moved to Ontario in 2002, I continued in clinicnal practice until I retired completely in 2013. I also did consulting, and some policy work, with the French preschool communities in Niagara in the area of dual language acquisition, which allowed me to continue speaking French. I was happy to keep these roots!

My wonderful partner and common-law-husband John with whom I have shared the last 28 years. Amongst other interests, we are sailors - have plied many waters in our sailboat including 2 trips along the east coast to winter aboard in Florida. We ended our sailing days after 7 summers up in Georgian Bay...too many other things to do! Now we are just truly enjoying the luxury of our unscheduled life. We have John's kids and grandkids close by, we have visits to England; we spend lots of time travelling at home and abroad, love meeting new people and seeing what life is like (and food and music and wine!) in other places in the world. We have yet to run out of ideas to explore or places to see.
